How to Verify Cosmetic GMP and ISO 22716 Certificates Before an OEM/ODM Project
A practical due-diligence guide for beauty brands comparing private-label skincare and haircare manufacturers. Confirm who holds the certificate, which site and processes are covered, whether the document is current, and what records apply to your own formula before approving production.
“GMP certified” starts a quality conversation; it does not replace checking the legal entity, factory address, product scope, validity dates or controls agreed for your batch. Match the document to the site and process that will actually manufacture the product.
Current AURVONX manufacturing-partner documents
AURVONX coordinates brand and project communication through Guangzhou Huanyue Cross-border E-commerce Co., Ltd. The submitted manufacturing certificates name Guangdong Zhengutang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (广东臻谷堂生物科技有限公司) as the certified manufacturer. Keep the coordinator and certified manufacturing entity distinct when reviewing a quotation, quality agreement, sample record or purchase order.

Read the scope before matching it to a product
The documents describe a general-liquid unit covering shampoo, skincare liquids and hair gel, and a cream unit covering skincare and cleanser products and haircare. This is not a blanket statement that every category, formula, claim or manufacturing step is covered. Confirm the specific product format, process and production site with the project team.
ISO describes ISO 22716 as guidance for cosmetic production, control, storage and shipment. It is a manufacturing quality framework, not product registration, proof of a finished product’s safety for every market, or substantiation of a marketing claim. EU product compliance remains a separate workstream involving the responsible person, safety assessment, product information file, notification and claims evidence.
Buyer’s certificate review checklist
- Match the legal name. Compare the certificate holder with the entity on the quality agreement; identify any separate coordinator, exporter or contracting party.
- Match the site. Check the printed address and production areas against the facility proposed for your order. Arrange a visit only after confirming the current address, visitor route and project scope.
- Match product and process. Confirm whether compounding, filling, packing, storage and release for your format fall within the documented scope.
- Check validity and status. Record the certificate number, dates and issuing body. Reconfirm status when placing or renewing an order and retain the version reviewed.
- Agree project controls. Document specifications, approved samples, changes, batch records, deviations, tests, release criteria and retained samples.
- Request evidence for each claim. A GMP certificate is not a batch certificate of analysis, safety report, efficacy study or market authorization. Ask for the relevant record separately.
What the certificate cannot decide for your brand
Buyers still need product-specific specifications and a responsibility matrix covering formula ownership, raw-material standards, in-process checks, finished-product release, packaging compatibility, complaint handling and change control. Build the evidence plan around destination market and claim: a moisturizer, scalp-care product and brightening product may need different substantiation. The manufacturer can coordinate formula, sampling and production records; the brand and its regulatory partners should confirm local labeling, notification and claims obligations.
Questions to settle before approving a sample or bulk order
- Which legal entity and site will manufacture this SKU, and which certificate scope applies?
- What are the sample approval, specification and change-control steps?
- Which quality tests and batch records are included, and which are separate?
- How will packaging compatibility, stability, microbiology and destination-market requirements be addressed?
- What MOQ and lead time apply to this formula, pack and quantity?
AURVONX’s indicative starting MOQ is 1,000 units; sample development typically takes 5–7 days and bulk production typically 25–35 days. Actual MOQ and timing vary by product, formula, packaging and customization and must be confirmed in the quotation.
